The South Island of New Zealand has some of the southernmost vineyards in the world, with climatic conditions producing wines that are distinctive and unique. The Waipara Valley in north Canterbury, is Canterbury's premier wine-growing region, and is about 45 minutes' drive north of Christchurch. Waipara is one of the fastest growing wine producing regions in New Zealand, currently boasting over 40 vineyards and wineries. The region is an ideal cool-climate grape growing area, with Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc dominating local plantings. Recent investment in the region by some of New Zealand's larger wine producers, including Montana Wines, mean that Waipara is set to become a major player in the New Zealand wine industry.

The Waipara Tour will take you to four award-winning wineries, such as Pegasus Bay, Mud House, Waipara Springs, Torlesse, Mt Cass, Muddy Water, Danny Schuster or Sherwoods. (all wineries subject to availability). You will be able taste the wine, view the vineyards and, if you wish, buy some wine. On their wine trail they are usually able to show you where the wine is made and you are often able to meet the winemakers. A lunch platter at one of the wineries is also included. Your Waipara Wine Tour includes pick-up.

On the outskirts of the Garden City of Christchurch, They have a number of award winning private gardens.

This tour takes you to three outstanding private gardens in the Christchurch area, including "Ohinetahi". As you travel from garden to garden, you will also enjoy the scenic panoramas available from the Port Hills including Christchurch City, the Canterbury Plains, Southern Alps, and Lyttelton Harbour.

Ohinetahi, which overlooks Lyttelton Harbour, is the magnificent private garden and historic residence of distinguished New Zealand architect, Sir Miles Warren. This garden, rated as one of the best in New Zealand, is known internationally. The gardener is usually available at Ohinetahi to answer your questions.

You will have time to wander round and explore each of the gardens, and enjoy their beauty and tranquillity. At each garden you will see a wide range of native and exotic plants and trees, such as rhododendrons, camellias, roses, magnolias, hostas and lavender.
